Fully made me cry. AAHHH it's so good
Modern and efficient methods of communication have traded sincerity and depth of meaning for convenience. There is merit in approaching communication not simply as a means of conveying information, but also as a creative avenue for the documentation of our relationships. A writer can achieve something beautiful in a letter they simply can't with an email or text. So much of our communication is ephemeral and intangible, but a letter can be felt and kept and treasured. A real document, with real ink, contains life that digital messages can't.
The thoughtful and intentional process of drafting a letter is wonderful precisely because it is often difficult. Mistakes cannot be undone so easily. Thoughts must be articulated clearly and nicely. I love it very much
This book is a love letter to letters and letter writing. Like 84 Charing Cross Road, but new, and fictional, and somehow even more bookish and awesome.
